My Penang trip - National Park at Teluk Bahang

.
We spent our last day in Penang at Teluk Bahang, and we decided to take a boat ride to Pantai Kerachut. Daddy managed to ask some ang mohs to share the cost of boat ride which is about RM180 after 10% discount.

This was my first boat ride.

As a safety measure, we are all required to put on the floating jackets.

And off we went...

I was a little intimidated by the swaying of the boat and look at me, hiding in my safety jacket like tortoise hiding inside its shell.

After a few minutes, I got used to us and started coming out of my "shell"

We passed by the "Crocodile Rock", it looked like a crocodile head and hence its name.

and the "Turtle Rock"

We reached Pantai Kerachut after about 30 minutes ride. The first thing that greeted us was this green tree snake.

One of the reasons why Daddy chose Pantai Kerachut was to see this unique lake. It has two separate layer of water, fresh and salt water that doesn't mix. Unfortunately, it was a dry season and this was what we saw...

More information about the lake is shown in this board.
attraction in Pantai Kerachut is the turtle sanctuary. But we didn't make it there because of the time as well as due to some unforeseen circumstances.

After that, we headed home. This time on the way back, I was not that scared anymore.

My Penang trip - Kek Lok Si

.
Our third day in Penang was spent mostly at the famous Kek Lok Si temple.

Since we arrived at the Kek Lok Si late morning, we thought that an early lunch would be the best way to start the day. So, we went to this vegetarian restaurant at Kek Lok Si. It was a nice change, given that we have had lots of sinful indulgence of nice but unhealthy Penang food.

We took a lunch set and this time, we remembered to take pictures of them... Here goes..

"FISH"

Tofu and mushroom

Dunno-what veg.

"Pork"

Soup

After we filled our stomachs, we began to explore Kek Lok Si.

One structure you should not and will not miss is the famous gigantic bronze Kuan Yin statue.

Ah ma put in some donation on behalf of Ah Kong and have had his name (& family) written onto the roof tile, which will be elevated to roof of a temple building.

We also spotted all twelve Chinese Zodiac Animal statues, so we took our picture with our respective zodiac animal.
Ah Ma with the Tiger,

Ah Chek with the Goat

Gu gu with the Cow (looks more like a buffalo)

Daddy with the Dragon

Mummy with the Horse

and I with the "BABE"
Since Ah Kong was not around, I represent him with the Rat

And here are the some other photos taken at the Kek Lok Si, which has some nice architectural designs, including its famous pagoda.

When we were done with Kek Lok Si, we went to another famous temple, with a reclining Buddha statue. Unfortunately, I was too tired and fell asleep.

My Penang trip - Exploring Georgetown

.
Our first stop in Georgetown is the Fort Cornwallis.

The year 1786 written on the signboard of the Fort Cornwallis is the year everybody who took "Sejarah" in their secondary school education would remember. It was the year Francis Light arrived in Penang and basically marked the beginning of the British colonization of then Malaya.

The ticket pakcik was so styllishly dressed that we couldn't resist taking picture of him.

The first thing we saw upon entering the fort was this statue... yes, the statue of Francis Light.

The weather was so hot, that Mummy even used an umbrella under a shed. As for me, I'd just woken up from my slumber, hence my "dissatisfied" facial expression.

Soon, I warmed up and there I went, running about under the scorching sun.

When you visit Fort Cornwallis, you will not miss taking a picture with this cannon.

As I said, the sun was so hot that we didn't really want to walk too much, so we took picture of the town hall and the city hall from far.

Next came our lunch time. You know Penang is famous for their food. Here, we have tried various food, such as Penang laksa, char kuay teow, nasi kandar, bak kut teh, Penang chendol etc and for me the best is chicken rice.. hehe

Notice that we do not have many pictures of Penang food. That's because everytime the food was served, we were salivating too much till we forgot to take pictures of them.

After our lunch, we walked along Penang Road and came across the Chowrasta Market.

And this is the famous nutmeg, only available in Penang. Products made from nutmeg such as "minyak angin" is highly sought after. A must buy in Penang.

And finally, we reached one of the Penang famous landmark - Komtar. By then, I was all sweaty and even my hair was so unkempt.

After that, we went back to rest and in the evening, ah chek and gu gu bought a cake to celebrate Daddy's and Mummy's birthday.
